1 Month to Go

Tomorrow, May 12th officially marks the 1 month mark till our wedding. I am so excited I could scream. Thanks to http://www.theknot.com/ I know that I am on track and what things I still need to take care of. This weekend I went with one of my bridesmaids Sybil to C and C Hair in Stone Mountain. They should call this place world of weave because that is what it is. I have never seen so many hair pieces, wigs, and bags of all types of fake hair in my life. It was a bit overwhelming because all we wanted was a little oomfh to our exsisting hair. I found a perfect match while Sybil was not as lucky. Why don’t they make ash brown hair??? She decided to dye her ash hair dark brown and then return to C and C to make a purchase.

Centerpiece building is going well. I am making a trip today to pick up all of the pieces I have collected so far to make the cutest centerpieces. The bottle with orchid above is one of the pieces that I have made. I am quite proud of it. I have also found some great ideas for using succulents in boutioneers that I am excited about.
Also on the plate this week is compiling our must-play song cds for our DJ. We have a few of them including the songs that we will walk down the ailse at the beginning and end of the ceremony. In addition we have to pick out our selections for wine, beer, and food. Making choices is not easy! Weeeeee!

Bachlorette Shananigans

I am bracing myself for/eagerly anticipating my bachlorette party this month. While the nuptuals actually take place in June I figured it will take that long for all of us to recover. Drinking is hard work and I hope to be up for the challenge. My bridesmaid Nicole is taking the lead on this production and I cannot wait to see what she has in store for all of us. It will be a stress free evening with many opportunities for those who are pooped to make their exits. She has chosen a great location so I am sure there will be plenty of people to mock and fun to be had. From what I hear the invitations are amazing and all she will tell me is she is making me a shirt that reads “If lost return to Joe Pinkelton”… to be continued

Board with Your Room???

www.roomandboard.com

Room and Board is coming and I am very happy! They are a wonderful furniture/home store that will be taking up residence in the new White Provisions re-vamp in Westside, Atlanta at the corner of Howell Mill and 14th Streets. Offering so many pieces of furniture in so many combinations and options is a great spin on the old furniture hunt. Even better, their pieces are American made by small family-owned companies that value sustainable materials. A great option for those looking for something beyond out dear Ikea.

Off into the Sunset

www.sunset.com

While looking for something completely non-design related, I stumbled upon this awesome magazione called Sunset. Design for those living in the west is the main theme of this monthly piece with everything from home to food to lifestyle. What really caught my eye was an article called “Lose the Lawn: Western homeowners are ditching their turf lawn in favor of low-water landscapes.” I am a HUGE hater of all things lawn…mowing it, raking it, picking 100 million pine cones off of it. Joe and I agree that outside work is the devil, especially in this Atlanta summer heat and we also agree that where ever our next home is it will not contain a huge yard. Their ideas were beautiful..how can one resist a yard made completely of gravel! I think the rest of us can take a cue from the westerners and go towards more drought tolerant lawn.
Their home decorating ideas were wonderful too with many alternative options for clutter control. Although it is not advertised as such it is really a GREEN-living publication that we all can get useful tips from. Heck..there was even an article on raising chickens in the suburbs! I think I may have found a replacement(we’ll see) for my beloved Domino!
