My list

That list of mine

Did you make a to-do list in January?

Progress on my mondo 2014 list is coming along nicely. Some changes have been made and some Whiteout has been used; but we all know that saying about life and making plans. I have taken the GRE; but have decided to put off applying to graduate school until 2015. Amazing how a snow storm makes you re-evaluate how much free time you will have for studying with a three year old in the house.

Last year I met a wonderful woman named Betty Thompson. I also met many of her friends and neighbors to gather background info to write this article.  For the last few weeks I have been working on a Crowdrise fundraiser to send her to see the Redwood trees in California. My friend Mark and I did a video of her to accompany the webpage and I pushed and pushed and pushed it out to all of my social media contacts. We all did, and this week we exceeded our goal. I don’t know if I have ever been this happy for another person in my life. Visit her webpage at bettyscircleoffriends.wordpress.com.

I have officially applied for Leadership DeKalb and now I wait for their response. The application went through quite a few changes. I think the finished product portrays me as I am. I can only hope they like me for me.

Work will continue on this resolution/bucket list for 2014.

Until next time…

My yummy horse-size pills.

Backside Sinus Infection

My yummy horse-size pills.

Oh joy! Look at the third warning on the list. That could be a backside sinus infection! You gotta love meds!

That sounds really bad doesn’t it? It does not mean what you think it means though. It means that instead of having the facial pain and pressure, I have had monsoon weirdness going on on the back of my head and base of my neck. As usual all Google searches had rather bleak outlooks. (Why do we Google our symptoms? Such a landmine riddled place is found there.) Only a few of them actually said Maybe you have a sinus infection!

This morning at the CVS Minute Clinic I learned:

1. When you have cold/allergy/flu symptoms for longer than three weeks you need to see someone.

2. I need to be taking Allegra.

3. The pain in my neck and weird headache was sinus pressure. It’s not a tumor!

4. To be grateful for my husband for his Arnold Schwarzenegger movie quoting which was correct.

5. Sometimes pharmacists think it is cool to make pills big enough to choke Godzilla!

Peace and Health be with you…

About Face Part Deux

Is it possible that on my 43rd birthday my skin completely changed? I promptly got a case of the zits on that day and I am almost positive that it was from the Nair (isn’t facial hair fun) and not the new moisturizer.  When I said that I wanted to keep my skin young looking I did not mean like a 16 year old with acne!

Since that day I have just been washing my face with my usual weapon against the grease and dirt, Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash . It is affordable, effective and just a wee be scrubby with these tiny little scrubbing beads in it. Bunny Hilliard mentioned this yummy brush from Clairsonic  that looks like a daily facial. That sounds pretty awesome to me right now. I also have continued with the moisturizer without any new breakouts/reactions.

Has anyone ever used any of the BB Creams that are out there? I have inherited the freckles/moles that danced across the faces of all of the women who came before me in my family. I come from a long line of high-yellow black people so every spot shows up like a Bjork outfit on the red carpet! If I could fade and even those spots out without drying my skin in the process I would be very happy.

First World problems!!

Instead of a picture of my face on my birthday, let’s look at this fine beer I had instead. The Allagash Curieux.

Love your family this weekend….

Aaron and Russell Pinkelton

This photo was taken when our little man was only 2 months old. The gentleman holding him is the late great Russell Pinkelton. Russell was the younger brother of the original Aaron Pinkelton or Paw Paw as I knew him. Our little guy came along after we lost the original Aaron and I wish they could have met. Needless to say it was quite a treat to capture this moment.

Hug your peeps ya’ll. Have a great weekend.
