A Boozy Doozy

Night before beerfest. I have picked up a six pack of Flying Dog Snake Dog IPA and a bottle of Bacardi and my sweet Joe bought a bottle of Cachaca to make caipirinhas. Combine with Oscar Meyer wieners and that makes for a fine dinner. We are now watching Three Sheets. The greatest show ever. Laughing at the antics of that Zane Lamprey.

2008 Creative Loafing Beerfest and Beer’lympics

It’s that time again. Creative Loafing’s 3rd annual Beerfest and Beer’lympics. My sweet Joe and I went last year and had the most amazing time and the most amazing beer and food. Here is what cln.com says about it:

BEER’LYMPICS. Don’t worry, though – everyone’s a winner in this Olympic-sized competition, with spectator-sport energy required for games such as cornhole, flip cup and beer pong. A sampling smorgasbord of more than 120 types of beer, including Petaluma, Calif.’s Lagunitas Brewing Company and local festival omnipresence Sweetwater Brewing Company, will entice festival-goers, along with music and food from local restaurants such as Mellow Mushroom

I am uberexcited to see that they will have a flip cup competition. I was at a party this past winter and was on the ultimate winning flip cup team. I know I am 37-years old and some would say to old for the game and to them I say”SHUSH”. I hope get Joe, Nic and Wadner to join me in the quest for local flipcup glory!!

Tickets are $15 for designated drivers and $30 for the drinkers. See you there.

Don’t Hate tha Playa…..

Phase 10 is the greatest card game of all time. I am sure of most of you have never heard of it. However, if you have, please send me a note so that we can organize a game night.
I just found out that there is a Master’s edition of the game that has some twists and turns on the standard rules. I simply do not understand how UNO has done so well and this game is still so low profile.

Here is the Wiki blurb on this beast…

Phase 10 is a card game created in 1982 by Kenneth Johnson and currently produced by Fundex Games. Phase 10 is based on a variant of rummy known as Liverpool Rummy. It requires a special deck or simply 2 regular decks of cards, and can be played by two to six people. The game is named after the ten Phases (or melds) that a player must advance through in order to win. Phase 10 is Fundex‘s best selling product, selling 32,658,845 units to date, making it the 2nd best selling card game, behind Uno.

What they don’t tell you is that a game lasts several hours. I played Friday night and we started at 12 midnight and finished at 4AM. Don’t moan…it’s like many hours at an amusement park.

One Fine Weekend

The beer tasting/concert at Atlanta Brewing Company was nothing but fun. This Friday was a hot one so there were more than a few willing participants on had to hear some tunes and enjoy a selection of their fine ales. Click here to visit their website and make plans for the next event.

We built up massive appetites doing those pint curls and decided to head on over to Westside Pizza. The menu has something to offer everyone from salads, to calzones, subs and of course pizza. We enjoyed an appetizer of cheese bread with marinara dipping sauce. My chicken parm sandwich was amazing and Joe orderd the Greek Calzone which I of course nibbled on.
To the right you will see Nic and Wadner drooling over the menu.

Located in the up and coming Westside/Riverside neighborhood it attracts a lot of locals with the great food and trivia. Located at 2341 Marietta Blvd it is convenient for eats after your weekend trip to the Chattahoochee outlet stores!
