I love our caterers. When I went to drop off our deposit they were prepping for a wedding at the Biltmore in Midtown today. In the kitchen they were making hundreds of their yummy crabcakes and they let me have one. Yum Yum Yum.

Green Green Green

My original color of choice for my bridesmaids was green. It generally looks good on everyone so I thought it was a good choice. Until I saw the inside of our chosen place of nuptuals and realized it was a lot of green going on in there and I didn’t want our wedding to look like a big green monster. (I know I am crazy and paranoid but just hear me out.) Luckily my friend/wedding coordinator/advisor agreed with me and thought I should consider something brighter. We now have the beautiful blend of orange/coral/persimmon working it’s way through everything and I am very happy. On the dresses, invites and bouquets will be these warm summer colors.
When it came time to think about table decor my mind couldn’t help but go back to all of the beautiful green things I had seen. I have been gathering vases and votives for a while now; resolute in the fact that my tables didn’t need to match and many different table options was a good thing. Finally this weekend while taking stock of all of my gathered booty and referencing TheKnot.com my tables have come together. A mixture of dried peas, moss, sand, round glass vases, tall glass vases, pillar candles, small votives, tall green re-used wine and water bottles, and succulent plants all tied together with a few orange/coral flowers and ribbon will make for festive summer centerpieces that I am hoping all of my guests will want to take home.

A few weekends before the wedding will be spent making all of these pieces fit together with the help of my girls. Between now and then I am hoping to also score some small boxes to transport the combinations to the reception site. Each box will contain all of the elements for one table’s decorations. I am making this process as idiot proof as possible. Clean, easy and green…

Here we go!

Yesterday I put on my big girl panties and wrote a huge check to our wedding photographer. It wasn’t the largest check I’ve ever written but it symbolized us getting one step closer to our wedding day. We are very excited to have her there to document our big day.
We also created our gift registry at Bed, Bath and Beyond. Previously we created one at Crate and Barrel and a small wish list on Anthropologie.com. I have been doing the math and I fear that we may have to add a few more gifts. We shall see.
Next week I visit our caterers and I am sooo excited to cofirm our date with that other huge check. Deposits are big, scary, but sooo awesomely meaningful when you know the great event the money is going towards!
This week or next, save the date cards will go into the mail! Weeeeeee. I am very excited about my design. Now to get to work on those invitations.

When one door closes…

I feel very blessed as I have finally found a wedding photographer that I love and takes awesome pictures! She is an amazing woman who has worked as a photojournalist for the past 7 years and shot pictures in Australia, India and all over for the AP, and she is an awesome wedding photographer.

After a about a month and meeting with many photographers we have found a match and Joe is very happy about the price. I will officially deliver the deposit and contract to her on Monday. Praise the Lord I have one more wedding detail nailed down.
Take a look at her work at www.alisonchurch.com!
Now onto my Saturday morning which will be spent at Davids Bridal with my mother in search of a dress for her. Pray for me!!!! Where is a flask???
