Joe and I are over the moon about the sneak peek our wedding photographer gave us of our wedding photos. She said a few awesome words and posted these pics of our most amazing day. Here you go…..http://alisonchurch.com/blog/
Let the Decor Begin…..
While strolling through Ikea I broke the news to Joe that I LOVED decorating. I don’t think this threw him for a loop or anything but I had to make my intentions known. Our condo will be the cutest one in the building dang it!!! While there we picked up a floor lamp, a new shelf unit for the bedroom, a wall mounted lid holder, and magnetic spice canisters for inside kitchen cubbard doors. I know the last item is very Alton Brownish of us but we love that guy!!!
I recently got another man’s perspective on the curtain situation in our living room. They are currently striped(not so bad) and too short for the windows they are covering(foul!). I have been looking around for a nice solid, long, curtain to replace them. Our friend Reggie said to go for burnt orange to match the cool new throw pillows we got. While I have been a big fan of orange for some time now as an accent color in the home the new Atlanta Magazine’s Home is full of it. A midtown condo and a Brookhaven townhome are featured that both use orange throughout. That being said you would think I would have found something already but no! I may have to take a trip to one of the many fabric stores her on the westside for the perfect shade of orange… Forsyth Fabric anyone????
Registry of Dreams
Yesterday Joe and I spent the evening running errands. We now see how old married couples find joy in their Saturday outings. First stop..yet another donation to Goodwill of a computer desk he has had for years. Do I have to tell you how happy I was to see it go?? We dropped off my wedding dress(the bottom of it is a mess) to our wonderful cleaner Vivian who greeted us with an awesome wedding gift of crystal martini glasses. She is amazing and we are lucky to have such a nice person as a business owner in our neighborhood.
We ended up at Bed Bath and Beyond to make good of many of the giftcards we received as gifts. We are now the proud owners of stainless steel cookware that is DISHWASHER SAFE. The previous non-stick pans were great but the fact that they couldn’t go into the diswasher KILLED! We also picked up canisters that can be used with the sealer his mom got us. Who knew there were so many ways to seal food!!!? We returned home and began unpacking, washing, and putting things away; and making room for other gifts. Joe quickly became addicted to the sealing canisters which he used to store coffee and the contents of a half eaten box of Joe’s-Os Cereal. The man is addicted. My highlight of the evening was learning that the cubbard over the fridge was virtually empty! Jackpot of more storage space.
My new wifey side came out when I announced, ” I thought I would wait until I had the ring on my finger to get all design psycho on you.” Then I forced him to make a decision about what would be hung where on our walls. I will take pictures of our progress. Yay decorating!!!
Joe and I have been married for one week and three days now and it rocks! I welcomed him home yesterday with a dinner of corn souffle, salad, and GET YO’ MAN CHICKEN. It is an easy to do meal that I learned from the Neely’s. Here is the how to.
As we begin home-making, we find that we have a lot of things to sort, trash, repurpose, and donate. I honestly believe that I will be on a first name basis with the donation collectors at the neighborhood Goodwill very soon. After each clean-out and clean-up project there always ends up being a pile that I have to offer up to Joe. Do you want to keep this? Do we really need another one of these? Amongst today’s donation was an actual coffee carafe. When in the world did this man ever use this thing???
Space is at a premium in our one-bedroom condo and I want to cleverly make every inch work in our favor. To help me in this quest I have been looking towards http://www.thenest.com/ for ideas. This sister website to http://www.theknot.com/ gives newlyweds tips on everything from buying a home to getting pregnant and is overflowing with decorating ideas.
Today’s job…..what to hang on the walls??? Wish us luck!
