Welcome to our world….

Will you all join me in welcoming Katarina Alyce Mills to our world. She was born Friday, June 6 weighing 7lbs 9oz. Her proud parents Christie and Michael Mills are so excited for to have their first bundle of joy.

Christie and I got each other through much drama and heat at our old job. And I mean heat literally. The above photo was taken in 90 degree Atlanta summer heat at a 3-day track meet. The heat was so oppressive all we could do was laugh.

I hope Christie and Mike know they have so much laughing ahead of them with their new baby girl!!!

The Weekend is Here and Food is Still on My Mind

Last night’s dinner at Chima was amazing. I am sure my cholesterol is off the charts but my stomach is happy. Their drink special for the evening was the Caipirinha which is amazing. It contains Cachaca (Brazilian alcohol made from sugar cane), limes, sugar and ice.The perfect summer drink as the alcohol has a light flavor so it seems like you are enjoying homemade limeaid. You can find Caipirinha kits, which include pre pre-mixed lime and sugar and Cachaca, at Oscar’s Liquor on Terrell Mill Road in Marietta. That area is heavily Brazilian so it is easy to find. At $17.99 a kit, it is worth trying.

Chima’s service was as wonderful as the food was and we actually let them know that on the comment card. Lucky for us, under the comment card was another coupon for buy one dinner get one free.

On tap for this weekend: The Atlanta Brewing Company(ABC) and Kat’s Cafe. This will be my first time attending the ABC friday night event. $7 gets you all the beer you can drink and tunes from a live band. Tonights band is the Linsdey Rickers Band. I have heard their lead sing before at an impromtu session in her own home and her voice is amazing. This will be their last show before going into the studio to record so try and make it if you can.

On Saturday I will be making my way back to Kat’s Cafe. Live music, friendly atmosphere and good drinks are promised. They do not have a webpage yet but search them on MySpace and read all about it!

Getting ready…to eat.

This being my first blog entry I feel I should wax on and on about one of my favorite subjects…FOOD. Sweet Joe and myself have reservations at Chima this evening and I cannot wait. Brazilian steakhouses are the greatest invention since Burt’s Bees lip balm and we are going to eat up. I fully plan to give a brief synopsis about myself in the corner or something but what better way to get to know me than to learn my likes and dislikes.

Now back to the food.

I have to tell you when we got a coupon in the mail for buy one dinner get one free at Chima we sat and stared at it. Their dinners are $45 per person. It was like winning the coupon lotto. We are night tightwads… merely thrifty. With gas being $4.00 a gallon you’ve got scrimp where you can. We have also taken advantage of the Savvy Shopper that comes monthly(buy one entree get one free at Agave). Also the Creative Loafing Bites and Eats coupons are the bomb. $25.00 for $50 worth of food and drink at The Globe…who can beat that?!

As is customary when preparing to go to an all you can eat meat factory we have planned to eat light/not at all today. I had a Lean Cuisine sandwich and a few nuts for lunch and I am sure Sweet Joe hasn’t eaten at all. We will be starving by our reservation time of 7:00 pm. I must advise you to not be in the vacinity of Peachtree and Piedmont shortly before that time as we will be flying down the road to get there and he has been playing Grand Theft Auto 4 so we probably won’t stop for the red lights if we can help it.

I will give you all of the juicy meaty details later. Kiss….
