This Weekend

This pilot wife was able to get out without the husband or the boy on Saturday night. The Goat Farm, which is one of the most magical places in Atlanta. Both me and my friend Carla agree that every time we go there we are bound to see something cool. This trip was no different. The Creatives Project designed an evening of live music, art , and record making. The band Book Club is now a new favorite.

and painting.

Sunday was another winner with a meeting with this woman to discuss her trip to the Redwoods State Park in California; and lunch at The Imperial in Oakhurst. Have you been to this new spot yet? They have only been open for a few months and don’t even have a sign out front. I am sure once they do I will not be able to get a table as quickly. I recommend the queso, any burger, and the chicken tenders. To wash the meal down I had a Leffe Blonde. It made for the cherry on top of the warm late winter Sunday.

How was your weekend? I hope you were able to take advantage of the warm weather and blue skies!

Stokke Adventure – Kid/Life Balance on A Sunday

I have always been happy with how Joe and I balance having a kid and the rest of our life. Many people say, “You just do it.” But how do you just do it? Early on we realized we needed to keep old hobbies and add some new ones. Do most of our old activities (I do miss trivia every Thursday though); and get new ones (the hanging at the Island of Misfit Toys is actually kind of fun). Today was an example of that balance, that fine art of give and take. Here was our day. . . .

Running into Target to buy a birthday gift. The Stokke is great for a quick run to the store while keeping Aaron from investigating everything on the shelves.

Birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese. The dads enjoyed these games more than the kids did!

Aaron and Issac preparing to sing to the birthday boy. Did I mention it was loud in this place?

Aaron and his perfect Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle cupcake. Can you tell he liked it?

Dad holding up the kid so he could reach a game. A lot of lights, a lot of buzzes. Someone mentioned that it sounded like Vegas in there.

The party won this round. Mama picked up a latte while the kid dozed. Oh how sweet he looks when he sleeps.

After the nap and our ride home the boy was wide awake and ready to watch dad brew. Watching the beer grow is exciting!

When you give your child Chuck E. Cheese, it is nice to give yourself a treat too.  Brewing is actually a new hobby that was started after the kid was born. When you move from a one bedroom condo into a four story town home you have the room to brew! That is give and take!

I can’t wait for that chocolate stout to be ready and for my hearing to come back. I must be getting old!

World in a Scramble

There are times when I feel like everything is a wee bit out of control. Then you throw into the mix the season premiere of The Walking Dead and I am extra wonky! The image of zombies falling through the ceiling on Sunday night is still with me and it is Wednesday.

I have been very slack in keeping up with my blogging. My website got hacked and I was unable to get email at my website address, blah, blah, blah. While I have been away from my blog many things have happened. Framing photos, spending time with old friends, work, the kid, the husband and GRE study cards. Hootsuite has helped me immensely with my professional Twitter feed; but only my hard work can keep me on top of my blogworld!

So I will quickly take the easy way out and share with you where I am now on this planet and in this life:

GRE flash card studying, boot wearing, praising the weather, coffee drinking, History of Internet Coursera class taking, HopMan shirt designing fool.

This weekend I am looking forward to my mother-in-law coming to town so that the hubs and I can attend the Bells Beer Brunch at the Square Pub and then off to the Decatur Beer Festival.

Remember to breathe people.

Quit Getting On It.

The scale is that which I am referring to in the title. I always want to geton the dang thing and as they say a watched pot never boils.

I have been pretty good in my quest to lose a few pounds. This Sunday was not easy I must admit. I had burned off a lot of calories early doing yardwork and thought, “Hey I can get a Happy Meal, they are only 400 calories.” Little did I know there would be a keg at the baby shower later.I was expecting pastries and finger sandwiches not yummy beer! And thus man was the architect of his own demise. At the end of the day, after I entered in all of my bad foods into my Lose It program I had over shot my allocated calories by 995. Yikes! Yesterday I ate small very lean meals and worked out which resulted in my being under my allocated calories by 775. It is all about balance it would seem.

My goal this week is to not go over on any of my days and to stay away from the scale. My weight goal is to lose 10lb. I am currently at 3.1 lbs lost. Pray for me.
