My CommonCreativ Q&A with Carlton Hargro

Last month I had the opportunity to interview a guy I  have known for ages named Carlton Hargro. He has lived many lives since we first met from doing security in a homeless shelter to Editor of Creative Loafing in Charlotte, NC;  but we sat down to talk about all things creative, his love for the city of Atlanta and his African-American Superhero Anthology project. World in a Scramble

There are times when I feel like everything is a wee bit out of control. Then you throw into the mix the season premiere of The Walking Dead and I am extra wonky! The image of zombies falling through the ceiling on Sunday night is still with me and it is Wednesday.

I have been very slack in keeping up with my blogging. My website got hacked and I was unable to get email at my website address, blah, blah, blah. While I have been away from my blog many things have happened. Framing photos, spending time with old friends, work, the kid, the husband and GRE study cards. Hootsuite has helped me immensely with my professional Twitter feed; but only my hard work can keep me on top of my blogworld!

So I will quickly take the easy way out and share with you where I am now on this planet and in this life:

GRE flash card studying, boot wearing, praising the weather, coffee drinking, History of Internet Coursera class taking, HopMan shirt designing fool.

This weekend I am looking forward to my mother-in-law coming to town so that the hubs and I can attend the Bells Beer Brunch at the Square Pub and then off to the Decatur Beer Festival.

Remember to breathe people.

On the Soapbox. Off the Hook.

Sometimes I need to vent to large audiences who in my delusional state I feel need to hear what I have to say. Did that make sense? With that being said, I recently posted the following rant on Facebook. I put these things on there because I know that I have friends in the world of Facebook who are right wingers, left wingers, and in-betweeners like myself. Knowing that I hope to speak to them not in a political voice but in a common sense one. Please read my words and allow the remarks and comments to build in your head. I would love to hear if you agree with me. . .

So you cut food stamps; but you don’t also try to lower food costs. You don’t want to raise minimum wage; but you want to deny that folks are working 40 hour weeks and still qualify for welfare. You want people to be educated; but you don’t work to lower education costs. You don’t want to pay for healthcare; but you create an environment and grow food that makes people sick. Is this the world’s worst joke or are you simply the world’s biggest asshole?

Me and the beloved iPad

Am I the future of technology? Let’s see.

This fall I will be taking my first free online course – Internet History, Technology and Security. It is offered through Coursera and is being taught by a professor from the University of Michigan. It is the first step in a direction I feel is inevitable for me – applying to the Masters Program in the School of History, Technology and Society at Georgia Tech.

I have bounced around in my head many graduate programs for a while now; but this one really peaks my interest in all things society and gadget. I have had my face deep into their website and now I must figure out my schedule with their application schedule for the next year.

So many people work and have families; but I am intimidated at the prospect of me doing it.
