Shoes To Do This Fall

Every girl loves shoes: but I have the challenge of loving shoes while having large feet. A size 11 to be exact. Many times I have fallen in love with footwear only to find that it does not come in my size. In the beginning my heart would break a wee bit each time; but now I just shun the company for not making their shoes large enough! Big foot woman unite!

This season I wanted to add some new shoes to my wardrobe and stumbled upon a few that tickled my fancy. Two pairs are realistic for my world and paycheck; while the one style costs more than I pay for daycare in a month. I welcome any contributions you would like to make as my digital friends and family to these fabulous footwear works of art.

First up, these ankle strap wedges by Clarks. Wedges are always comfortable and the style works for work and play. Fly London makes a similar style but their size 11 feels like a size 9 on my boats. Come on people, get with the program and size your shoes correctly.

Leopard has become a go-to neutral print in footwear for me. This pair of loafers arrived at my door yesterday and I am in love with them. Coach has always been good to me and I have never tried on any shoe by them that did not fit like a glove. These feel like slippers while still being perfect for business.

I love kitten heels and herringbone so these shoes are meant for me. Michelle Obama rocks this style a lot and like her I am proud to be a tall woman; but at the same time I don’t always want to tower over my husband. The $225 price rage is a bit steep so I will be taking donations for these. Email me for the address to send your checks to.

I know you are asking when would I wear glitter boots; but my question to you is when WOULDN’T I wear them. I would instantly become a superhero wearing these things and with a block heel and squared toes box they’d be hella comfy too. Watch me be a trend setter by bringing glitter shoes into the workplace. Even men will want to wear these boots after I start rocking them. They do cost $1395 and I have yet to find them in my size; but if the universe wants for me to have them it will happen. See how I am zen about my fashion.

This Weekend

As we transition into the fall I am trying to spend as much time outside as possible. All too soon we will be experiencing the cool, damp, and foggy days of autumn. While these conditions are great for soup, and snuggling on the couch; they aren’t very conducive to being outside.

Here are a few snapshots from our pretty Decatur weekend…

What We Are Reading – September 21st

The Pinkelton’s went to the beach last week and took some fine reading materials with us. They were mostly graphic novels/comic books; with the exception of mommy’s ten pound Vogue fall issue. More about my hits and misses from that tome on the next post. Our picks fell into just about any category you could hope for: funny, educational, rebellious and down right brilliant. They were:

March Book One

March: Book One

I had the chance to read this first book in a trilogy by and about the life and times of civil rights leader Congressman John Lewis. The collection of stories from his youth raising chickens to his participation in many lunch counter sit-ins spans a distant time; but covers struggles that continue to exist today. Tiny Titans Adventures in Awesomeness

The kid is a fan of any superhero so this book is a big hit. Art Balthazar creates short and funny adventures for these young offspring of some of our most well-loved comic book characters. All of the books in this series include mazes, puzzles, and object finding activities in between the humorous stories. Click here to get one for your own little hero.

Transmetroplitan

The husband had his face in this book for most of our trip. This tale is one of paranoia, journalism, politics and many other themes that are relevant in present times. The protagonist Spider Jerusalem is no hero and this quality make him pretty relatable given his journey and the dire circumstances of the world he lives in. What are you guys reading as we head into fall?

Rule of Thumb When Vacationing with Small Kids

IMG_7415.JPG

Every morning you are on vacation the child will be up at/or before 7:00am. You will get no additional rest so don’t even hope for it as the constant disappointment will sully your mood the entire trip.

However, on the final day you will have to drag them out of the bed. You need not worry about missing checkout time though as your eyes will pop open at 7:00 out of habit!

Happy family vacation!
